Night Bingo - Each Monday evening, starting at 6:00
PM, the Kiwanis Club of Indiana holds a fund-raising Bingo event at
the Indiana roller skating rink. This event is the major source of funds
for the Indiana Kiwanis Grants and is always
well attended. The event is advertised weekly in the Indiana Gazette
and is open to the general public.
Tuesday
Morning Meetings - The Kiwanis Club of Indiana
meets every 2nd through 5th Tuesday at 7:00 AM at the Eat 'n Park in
Indiana Pa. The meeting is strictly limited to one hour. Announcements
of interest and coming events are discussed and an invited speaker addresses
the assembled group on a subject of general interest. The subjects are
always varied and always interesting.
Monthly
Dinner - The first Tuesday evening of every month is
special for Kiwanis Club of Indiana; that's the night that the club
dinner is held. Kiwanis members and their guests are invited for good
food, good songs, good entertainment, good fellowship and an interesting
speaker. The dinner usually starts at 6:15 PM and is held at the Rustic
Lodge in Indiana. Certain dinners, for instance, near Christmas, Valentines
Day, etc., are extra special and always have a capacity turn out.
Monthly
Board Meeting – On the first Thur sday evening of
each month the Kiwanis Club of Indiana Officers and Board Members meet
at the Eat ‘n Park restaurant to discuss club business, receive
financial reports, and make decisions regarding club activities and
grants.
Other
Regular Events - Throughout the year the Kiwanis
Club of Indiana engage
in activities on a regular basis. These activities include:
- Hold an
annual golf tournament to benefit ICAAP’s Back-To-School project
- Sponsor
a Little League team
- Sponsor
a Halloween Parade (The 2004 parade was the 48th!)
- Hold an
Easter Egg hunt for Head Start Children
- Join the
Salvation Army ringing bells in December
- Sponsor
and run the Kiddie Farm at the Indiana County Fair
- Hold a
Christmas Party for Big Brother/Big Sister children
- Additionally,
we made “Books on Tape”, planted a healing garden at Indiana
County Medical Center, acted as gate keepers for the Blue Spruce Park
“Festival of Lights”, and participated in Big Brothers/Big
Sisters Bowl-a-thon, among others
