Kiwanis Student of the Month - October 2025



.Sierra Johnson has been named the Indiana County Technology Center’s Kiwanis Club Outstanding Student of the Month for September 2025.


Sierra is a senior at the ICTC in the Cosmetology program and attends Marion Center High School. She is the daughter of Bill and Misty Johnson of Creekside.


At ICTC, Sierra is a member of SkillsUSA. Sierra was elected to serve as President of the AM SkillsUSA group during her Senior year. In addition, she is currently serving as the Cosmetology class President. Sierra has participated in “Cause for Paws” through the Indiana County Humane Society and Downtown
Indiana’s “It’s a Wonderful Life” celebration. Sierra has enjoyed practicing her Cosmetology skills during the program’s Clinical Experience; she works well with clients and her peers.

Sierra has earned Barbicide Certification as well as OSHA. At Marion Center, Sierra is one of the Cheer Captains; she has been a cheerleader since 3rd grade. Sierra is also recognized on the Honor Roll.


Upon graduation, Sierra plans to gain experience working at a
salon and eventually plans to open her own business.


The Indiana Kiwanis Club Student of the Month for January at River Valley High School is Jake Twinchek. 


Jake is a member of the National Honor Society and has participated in football, basketball, and track and field for many years.  After school, he is involved in ATV Motorcross National Racing and enjoys camping;  he also works for a lawn maintenance company.  After graduation, Jake wants to attend college to study either engineering or construction management. 


In his essay, Jake reflected on the importance of service, leadership, and friendship in his life, principles that are essential to the Kiwanis Club Students of the Month.  Two of these students will receive a scholarship at the end of the school year.  



Kiwanis Student of the Month - November 2025


Parker Sleppy has been named the Indiana County Technology Center’s Kiwanis Club Outstanding Student of the Month for November 2025.


He is a senior in the IT and Cybersecurity program at the ICTC and attends Marion Center High School. He is the son of Matthew and Jennifer Sleppy of Creekside.

At ICTC, Parker was elected President of the IT and Cybersecurity class; he also served as President of the National Technical Honor Society during the 2024-2025 school year. Parker is currently participating in the “Teens Teach Tech” program.


Parker has acquired the following industry certifications: CompTIA A+, Network+, Google IT, and Google Cybersecurity. During his Senior year, Parker is enrolled in the Applied Science Associate Degree program at St. Francis University. Parker is
completing four online college courses, which will be combined with 48 articulated credits. This will allow Parker to earn his Associate’s degree simultaneously with his high school graduation in May 2026.


Upon graduation, Parker plans to obtain a bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity and would like to work for the FBI or for a Cybersecurity company.




Kiwanis Club Student of the Month - December 2025  River Valley School District. 

 
The Indiana Kiwanis Club December Student of the Month at River Valley High School is Madigan Dunlap.  Madigan is involved in Student Council, National Honor Society, and FCA.  She plays softball and is an original member of the girls' golf team.  Madigan volunteers at school and community events and is active in her church's youth group.  She assists in her family's annual golf tournament, which raises money for scholarships.  Madigan works at Chestnut Ridge Resort and for her family's business.  She plans on attending college to become a dental hygienist. 


Madigan hopes her leadership skills transfer to younger students, but she states, "No matter where my future takes me, Blairsville will always hold a special place in my heart, and I will continue to do my best to give back in any way I can".

We congratulate Madigan on being selected as one of the students of the month; two students will receive a scholarship at the end of the school year.



















Student of the Month



Kiwanis Student of the Month September 2025

Sara Gornick has been named the Indiana County Technology Center’s Kiwanis Club Outstanding Student of the Month for October 2025.


She is a home-educated senior in the Health Occupations program at the ICTC who resides in the United School District. She is the daughter of Matthew and Kristin Gornick of Seward.


At ICTC, Sara is certified as a Phlebotomy Technician and an EKG Technician. She also has her CPR, First Aid, Stop the Bleed and OSHA certifications. This past summer, Sara participated in the ICTC Indiana Physician Group summer internship program.


Sara is a member of the Cross Country and Track and Field teams at United High School. Outside of school, Sara works at her family’s business.
Sara’s plans include studying to be a Registered Nurse.
She plans to use her Phlebotomy certification while she attends
her post-secondary program.
